Hey sister,
If your heart has been feeling heavy lately… you’re not alone.
Every time we scroll through our phones or turn on the news, it’s like being hit with another wave of darkness. More violence. More hatred. Another war. Another child gone. Another story of someone lost in sin, destroying others in their path. Sometimes it honestly feels like the world is unraveling, and it’s easy to wonder: Where is God in all of this?
Today’s Gospel speaks directly into that chaos.
“If the world hates you, realize that it hated me first.” (John 15:18)
Jesus isn’t sugarcoating things here. He’s giving us a wake-up call: the world isn’t always going to love truth, beauty, or goodness, because the world is broken. Deeply broken. And yet... this is not the end of the story.
Let’s talk about this as sisters in Christ.
😔 The Reality We Live In
You’ve probably seen or heard stories that make your stomach turn.
A pregnant mother killed in a senseless act of violence. Children displaced from their homes in war-torn countries. Sex trafficking. Mass shootings. People exploited or addicted, trapped in cycles of sin they can’t escape. It’s dark. It’s heavy. And it makes you want to scream, or just numb out.
But Jesus told us this would happen.
“If you belonged to the world, the world would love its own.” (John 15:19)
We weren’t made to belong here... not really. Our hearts ache for something better because we were created for Heaven. That ache you feel? That sadness when you see injustice? It’s holy. It’s your soul remembering Eden and longing for eternity.
✝️ We Are Called to Be Different
You, dear sister, are set apart.
The world will tell you to blend in, to stay quiet, to be passive. But Jesus calls you to stand out, to speak truth in love, and to live differently. That can mean a million little things:
Refusing to gossip when everyone else is.
Praying a Rosary for people suffering across the globe instead of scrolling past it.
Speaking up against injustice, even if it’s unpopular.
Choosing forgiveness over revenge.
Dressing and carrying yourself with dignity in a culture that objectifies women.
Sacrificing your own comfort to serve someone in need.
These aren't just "nice Christian girl" things. These are revolutionary acts in a world that thrives on self-interest and sin.
🙏 Prayer Is Not Passive
When the world feels like too much, we can either shut down, or we can go to war on our knees.
Prayer is not a passive thing. It’s powerful. Real. Necessary. You may feel like you can’t change the world, but you can storm Heaven for it. Every Hail Mary, every whispered plea for mercy, every tearful prayer for someone suffering, it matters.
Pray for the victims. For the broken. For the perpetrators. (Yes, even them.) Ask God to transform hearts, starting with your own. Pray for the courage to be more like Jesus; to love radically, serve humbly, and never lose hope.
🌍 We’re in the World, But Not of It
The truth is: this world will break your heart. And it should, because it’s not your home.
But don’t let the evil you see convince you that God is absent. He’s here. He’s with the suffering. He’s in your aching heart. And one day, every tear will be wiped away.
Until then? Live boldly. Love deeply. Pray constantly. Be light.
Because the world doesn’t need more apathy.... it needs more saints.
And that, my friend, is exactly what you’re called to be.
Scripture to hold close today:
"I have told you this so that you might have peace in me. In the world you will have trouble, but take courage, I have conquered the world.” – John 16:33
Let’s Pray Together:
Lord, the world is dark, and sometimes it’s so hard to see You. But I believe You are here. Help me to be a woman of light, of faith, and of courage. Show me how to love like You do. Use me, my words, my hands, my heart, to bring healing in this broken world. Amen.
If this reflection resonated with you, share it with another sister who might need a reminder today: You were not made for this world...
but you were made to change it.
💌 Let’s be saints together.
